Founded in 1999, the UK-based Click Travel has raised a relatively modest amount of venture capital over the years (per Crunchbase). The acquisition marks the third shopping spree for TravelPerk since the pandemic, with it also picking up risk management startup Albatross last summer and US business travel platform NexTravel this January.
The platform aims to reduce the cost of travel for everyone involved. Click and Trip does this by combining the best inventory with the latest technology, giving travelers the freedom they want while empowering companies to control their travel program.
Click and Trip has a number of ways to monetize the site including advertising and affiliate marketing. Popular ad networks include Google Adsense and Mediavine. Affiliate marketing allows bloggers to earn a commission on products purchased through links in their posts.
The startup has attracted a significant amount of external investment over its shorter lifespan, and hasn’t been forced to cut staff as many of the larger competitors have had to do during the COVID-19 pandemic. Meir has indicated that the company intends to retain all of Click Travel’s staff. In the long-term, he also hopes to merge the platforms into one fully integrated product. For now, both will operate separately.
