TMW Maxwell developer provides a powerful rendering engine for architects, designers, and artists. It is available as a standalone application or as a plugin with other popular 3D applications including Maya, 3ds Max, and SolidWorks. The software is used to create photorealistic images, movies, and animations. It includes a 3D environment called Maxwell Studio. It is available for Windows, OS X, and Linux platforms.
The Physically Accurate Rendering Engine
Next Limit developed Maxwell as a physically accurate unbiased spectrum engine that generates stunning visuals and precise lighting simulations. Maxwell is regarded as the de facto standard in rendering and computer-generated imagery production.
Maxwell 5 features a fully rewritten multi-GPU core that delivers final results in minutes and accurate previews in seconds, preserving the physical accuracy of your scenes. The result is a Maxwell experience that is faster and more productive than ever.
Cloud Render
The new Maxwell Studio for MacOS allows you to easily dispatch jobs to a high-performance machine in the cloud (up to 96 cores). This allows for faster and more efficient renders, freeing up your local machine from consuming high CPU resources.
Integrated Materials Gallery
The materials gallery is an online library with thousands of free materials for Maxwell that are designed to offer maximum quality and realism. With an extensive range of materials from a wide variety of industries, you can create the exact look and feel you want for your scene.
Spot Emitters
Create beautiful light effects by using spot emitters to simulate the effect of lights on specific parts of your model. These emitters can also be triggered when you select a material or an area of a scene.
Extensive Camera Control & Rendering Tools
Set optical properties such as f-stop, focal length, shutter speed, ISO, film size, etc. and get DOF, bokeh, scattering and exposure effects to boost realism.
Advanced Render Technology – A unified, pixel-perfect render engine that uses mathematical equations to calculate the light solution in every pixel of your scene. This enables Maxwell to fully capture light interactions and perform lighting calculations based on spectral information and high dynamic range data, for highly accurate results.
Optimized Material System – The Material System in Maxwell is optimized for rendering, and it is based on the same physical principles that govern light transport. This ensures that materials are matched to the exact shape and texture of the object they are intended for, giving you accurate results that you can rely on.
Spectral Information – The spectral information and high dynamic range data in the Material System are used to calculate the light solution in every pixel in your scene. This enables Maxwell to generate highly accurate results that you can rely on, even at extreme resolutions.
TAC Ecosystem – The TAC ecosystem is comprised of the TAC7 scanner, PANTORA(tm) Material Hub desktop application and Virtual Light Booth (VLB). The TAC7 scanner captures appearance properties from actual samples of materials using the physical-based TAC7 hardware sensor. These appearance data are then digitized in the TAC7 and converted into AxF files that can be shared with products like Product Lifecycle Management, CAD, and rendering applications.
